Pray the Knock Novena

I want to make an urgent appeal for prayer. As you may know, the London Government may be on course to legislate for abortion in Northern Ireland.

• Please join us in praying the Knock Novena from 14th to 22nd August to protect the unborn in this part of Ireland.
• If you are someone who prays the Rosary, then please also join our Rosary Novena.

When Saint Teresa visited Knock Shrine in June 1993 and prayed the Rosary for life, she gave some very important reflections concerning Ireland and abortion. These statements are very relevant to us today. Samples of Blessed Mother Teresa’s statements are as follows:

Saint Teresa at Knock Shrine (June 1993)

“Life is a precious gift of God, especially the life of the unborn child. He or she is a living member of the human race like you and me, created in the image and likeness of God for greater things, to love and to be loved. We pray to Our Lady that all may come to realise that no church, no government or mother has the right to kill the unborn child at any stage .....” May Our Lady of Knock, Queen of Ireland, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of the World, protect the people of Ireland. May we cling to the Rosary as a child clings to the hand of its mother, and she will lead us closer to the heart of Jesus. As she took care of the precious life of Jesus for 33 years, may she protect our children from the evils that threaten God’s life in them........”
For this purpose, we invite you to pray the Knock Novena with us starting on Wednesday 14th August.

NOVENA TO OUR LADY OF KNOCK

Statue of Our Lady Knock Shrine

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.

Give praise to the Father Almighty, To His Son, Jesus Christ the Lord, To the Spirit who lives in our hearts, Both now and forever.
Amen.

Our Lady of Knock, Queen of Ireland, you gave hope to your people in a time of distress, and comforted them in sorrow. You have inspired countless pilgrims to pray with confidence to your divine Son, remembering His promise, “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find.”
Help me to remember that we are all pilgrims on the road to heaven. Fill me with love and concern for my brothers and sisters in Christ, especially those who live with me. Comfort me when I am sick, lonely or depressed. Teach me how to take part ever more reverently in the Holy Mass. Give me a greater love of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Pray for me now, and at the hour of my death.
Amen.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world;
Have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world;
Have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world;
Grant us peace.

Pray the 54-Day Rosary Novena

Then, next day on Thursday 15th August, we will pray our one Rosary each day and include the above prayer intention. Please note: You do not have to pray an extra Rosary! Just include the above prayer intention in the rosary you already pray each day (from August 15th – October 7th).
This miraculous 54-day Rosary Novena was given to the world in 1884 when Our Lady of Pompeii appeared to a gravely ill Italian girl, called Fortuna Agrelli. The Rosary Novena is made by praying a 5-decade rosary for 54 consecutive days (for your intention): the first 27 days are said in Petition; the second 27 days are said in Thanksgiving, even if the answer to prayer was not yet given. In other words, during the second 27 days you are giving thanks that God's will is going to be done.
